2020-2021 Dual Credit and Advanced Placement Courses

Scottsburg High School offers over 130+ College Credits every year. The term "Dual Credit" is used for classes that are taken for both high school and college credit, which can help students advance quickly in their post-secondary education. These dual credits are offered at a price much lower than credit in college. All Ivy Tech classes are tuition-free to students, and courses through Vincennes University and Indiana University are only $25 per credit hour (typically $75 for the 3 credit course). Indiana’s average price per college credit hour is $215-$323, so the savings are very clear. AP courses are rigorous courses that end with a placement test that will determine the amount of credit awarded for the class. By taking Dual Credit and AP courses, students are able to get general college requirements out of the way, allowing them to focus on major-related courses sooner; sign up for classes earlier, increasing the chances of enrolling in wanted courses; and potentially graduate early, saving more valuable money!
